The Calgary Expo is proud to announce Leonard Nimoy as our Guest of Honor!
One of the most well known and beloved science-fiction figures ever, Leonard Nimoy is an accomplished actor, director and photographer.
Practically a living legend, Leonard Nimoy is best known for his role in Star Trek as First Officer Spock. As a pivotal star in one of the most significant science fiction franchises in the last century, Spock has what most consider the most recognizable greeting ("Live long and Prosper") in movie and television history. He's also appearing in the popular series Fringe as William Bell!

Leonard Nimoy was born in Boston in 1931, the son of Jewish immigrants from the U.S.S.R. He has acted on stage and screen his entire life, his first stage appearance being in "Hansel and Gretel" at age eight.
After starring in several movies in the 50s, Nimoy broke into television, making appearances on many series including Rawhide, The Virginian, Profiles in Courage, Dr. Kildare, Outer Limits and Sea Hunt.

His big break came in 1966 when he began his role as the Vulcan officer Spock on Star Trek, and when Trek ended in 1969, Nimoy joined the Mission: Impossible team as a regular, staying with the show for two years.
He continued to act, but also returned to college in 1975 and earned a master's degree in education at Antioch College.
Many stage roles followed, until he reluctantly returned to the role of Spock in Star Trek: The Motion Picture in 1979. He co-starred in the next five Star Trek films, as well as a two-part episode of Star Trek: The Next Generation entitled, "Unification."

More recently, Nimoy appeared in the new Star Trek feature film, and has a recurring role in the cult-hit television show Fringe.

He has a passion for black and white photography and has published several volumes of poetry illustrated with his photos.
