Sean Ward
Sean Ward is an entertainer, writer, producer, director, rapper, artist, cartoonist, and master of ceremonies. He started out by hand-selling copies of his photocopied mini-comics to passers-by on the street in order to eat & pay the rent. His rap career began when fans started recognizing him at concerts around town. Sean would leap upon the stage during the guitar solo, snatch the microphone to deliver a freestyle rap over whatever the band happened to be playing, and vanish just in time for the singer to resume the chorus. By the time he started staging release parties for his comic books, Sean had composed enough raps in this unorthodox manner that he had a set, and he headlined each show. Over the next three years his release parties grew into elaborate multi-media presentations featuring comics, music, and a series of semi-autobiographical short films. These events attracted the attention of the producers of Canada's #1 late-night program - Ed & Red's Night Party - for which he currently serves as a writer, associate producer, and performer.
Called "a 21st century Warhol", Sean's built what Broken Pencil magazine called "a grassroots empire" of music, comics, comedy, and fashion. He was the subject of the award-winning documentary One Man Show. His inspirational story has been featured in media outlets ranging from the six o'clock news entertainment report, to CBC Radio's Metro Morning. He was even invited by the Federal Human Resources Minister to speak on behalf of young entrepreneurs!
